Louisville

During Jess' spring break, we visited Louisville, Kentucky where we made a few stops. First, the temple--it was so good to be able to go. I took it for granted when we were 5 minutes away.

Churchill Downs, where the Kentucky Derby is held the first weekend in May. $150 if you want to watch the race from the worst seats, $40 for admittance to the middle of the track where you can't see a thing, or $500 for a good seat, but sold out 2 to 10 years in advance. Any other day of horse racing--$3. Yes, only $3 for your fill of horse racing.

No races were being held the day we went. In fact, I think we were three of about 25 people visiting. This was nice because we had a personalized tour of the paddocks, winners circle, and million dollar row, where the famous watch the Kentucky Derby.

We cruised by the University of Louisville football stadiums x 2. They are building a massive new one, not far from Churchill Downs. After a brief drive downtown in 5 o'clock traffic, which wasn't bad, we headed home. On the agenda for the next Louisville visit: the Louisville Slugger baseball bat company.

Forgot the camera that day...
