Organ Workshop

This week I was able to attend the BYU Organ Workshop. I am one of the ward organists in my ward, and have been taking private lessons for almost a year. If you have ever had any inkling of wanting to learn to play the organ, GO TO THE WORKSHOP. It is fabulous! I am glad my friend Marybeth, and her mom Rita, first got me interested in playing the organ when I was 13 or 14. I am getting better with using my feet, and it is becoming a lot of fun.

This is a Rodgers Organ. Something I learned at last year's Organ Workshop, is that every single organ is totally different, kind of like people! Even when they are built by the same company, they are different.

During the workshop, we had the chance to play the Tabernacle Organ. Each person had 2 minutes to play something. We also went to the organ builders' J. Bigelow's in American Fork, where they are currently building a $1 million organ for a Lutheran church in Iowa.

How much fun! I think you two have one of the best times of your life right now, to be able to do so many things and have some fun adventures (leaving the country :)) I find myself living vicariously through you :)

You're amazing. Organ has always scared me, and I try to avoid it as much as possible. It was great to see you! You look great! Hope things work out for school for both of you.
