Kirtland

The first part of November, Jess' mom was able to come visit us. We took a drive north-east to visit church historical sites in Kirtland and had a marvelous time. We visited the Kirtland Temple, the Whitney store, Whitney home, visitor's center, John Johnson farm, James A. Garfield home and more.

At the James A. Garfield home, a few miles from Kirtland, in Mentor, Ohio. James A. Garfield was the 20th president of the US.

At the John Johnson farm--so worth the 30 mile drive! Joseph and Emma Smith and their children lived here for a year, and during that time, this was church headquarters (1831).
